VIOLET SKY. DANCING DRAGONFLY 1076
VIOLET SKY. DANCING DRAGONFLY 1076 is made from premium Indian cotton yarn with hem-stitched edges for durability. Designed by Nisha Mathew Ghosh, it features a subtle white base with a bold line drawing of kites that is self-woven into the rug. The motif size is approximately 2.1 feet in width and 1.5 feet in length. It can be used as a wall hanging or rug, and its compact size makes it perfect for slipping under a bed, study table, or in a corridor.
Description
The collection of 7 single-edition rugs or dhurries is called SEEING.
The works have a cross conversation as motifs of the kites and fossil leaves repeat themselves across the collection. Both refer to each other as a set of mnemonic devices that bring sky and earth into a reflective collision. Kites from the kite festivals of Ahmedabad soar the sky, or lie at rest while leaves, a flitting butterfly, and soil, draw a horizon coalescing.
These are clues that help us bring associations of sky and earth into the world of wonder of childlike and long forgotten visual words. Seeing can encapsulate the new within the old, and hope within the old.
